How it works.

Membership is by introduction. A current member sponsors you. The process takes about two weeks. While you wait, you are welcome to attend events and join us for Wednesday lunch. The membership reflects the city: physicians and lawyers, educators and executives, business owners and civic leaders, military and civilian, those who were born here and those who arrived last year.

Dues vary with age and proximity. The Club maintains reciprocity agreements with more than fifty private clubs across the country.

Spouses and partners share the same privileges — full member privileges, welcome unaccompanied, may bring friends and guests.

If you don't know a current member, that's fine. Call Jennifer at (959) 264-2733 or just come by on a Wednesday or Thursday. Ring the bell. We will introduce you to whoever is in the room.

Thames Club founding plaque — February 8, 1869

Founded February 8, 1869 — it says so on the wall

A note to the builders and designers

The Thames Club has recognized serious work since 1869 — long before the submarine force existed. The silhouettes on our walls include shipbuilders and sea captains, educators and merchants, physicians and civic leaders, engineers and lawyers.

Every generation of New London's working life is on that wall. If this sounds like your kind of place, it probably is.

In person

Dues, reciprocity, and the rest of the practical questions are handled in person during a visit. We look forward to meeting you.
